Paleo-Art: Pachirhinosaurus

Pachyrhinosaurus was a large ceratopsian dinosaur that once lived in what is now Canada and Alaska. For this more speculative piece, I tried to envision different sub-sets of the species Lakustai. I liked the idea of a woolly ceratopsian dinosaur, so I created three variations of the same animal. The bare one lives in regions where the temperature and weather does not change as drastically throughout the year, so it can afford to be bare of feathers, instead growing elephant-like skin. The cold weather variant has a short, stage two or three feathers to keep it relativly cool during the summer months. Then, in winter, it grows a double layered coat. This being a fine, downy coat close to the body, and a long, wiry coat to protect it from the elements.
